Biography

 

Rolf Landberg

Rolf Landberg is a member of the percussion trio Global Percussion Network together with Anders Ästrand and Daniel Saur. In addition to his membership in GPN he is the principal percussionist and percussion instructor of the Royal Swedish Army Band and also has a carreer as a freelancing percussionist and educator in Sweden.

 

The Swedish Army Band is a symphonic wind band consisting of 15 professionals and 35 younger musicians doing their military service. Within that group there´s also smaller chamber ensembles, percussion ensemble and jazz band. The Swedish Army Band makes around 120 performances every year, in Sweden and international, and is also appearing as a parade band connected to the changing of the guards at the Royal Castle in Stockholm

Diversity is the main word used about Rolfs musicianship. He does appear in various musical connections such as percussion ensembles, symphony orchestras, musicals, plays, renaissance ensembles, big-bands, rock-bands, marching bands etc. He has also featured in several Radio, Filmscores, TV- and studio recordings.

Rolf Landberg has performed in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Lattvia, Russia, Poland, France, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, Argentina and the United States. Rolf has performed with at Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) 1999 (w Anders ÅStrand) 2002 and 2005 (w GPN).

Rolf is often hired to hold seminars and to coach percussion sections. He was the director of Vasby Percussion Ensemble when they won the Swedish Competition for Young Percussion Ensembles 2005, and he was percussion instructor for the Northern Sweden Symphony Youth Orchestra, 1:st prize winner in the World Competition for youth

orchestras in Vienna 1999. Rolf also offers self-arranged percussion courses.

Between 2002 and 2004, Rolf held the position as the vice president of the Percussive Arts Society’s Swedish Chapter. Rolf is in the board of directors of "SPIS" (Swedish Percussion Teachers Association) Rolf Landberg endorses Innovative Percussion.
